Luxury brands have become part of your everyday shopping experiences. Everyday products that you find at your local store will always have a 'lux' counterpart. There are certain aesthetics such as brand history, market audience, symbolisms, and social-cultures that make a specific brand stand out from the rest. For this project, I decided to study current luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermès, and other niche brands that produce Luxury goods in an effort to create a faux luxury brand of my own. I have found that the biggest factors that determine what is considered a luxury product to be social exclusivity, brand history, and overall quality.
Secondary factors such as where a product was manufactured and even the MSRP can also determine what is considered a Luxury product. For example, most consumers associate foreign made goods (Italy and France) to be of high quality, whereas items that are produced elsewhere (China) are of lower quality. However, this is not to say that china makes terrible goods, but most production goods from China are cheaply made on a mass scale to cut costs, whereas products made in France and Italy are usually centered around quality because of its handmade nature and lower production numbers.
